Scholarship Programme for Diaspora Children (SPDC) for the academic year 2019 -2020

Government of India launched a scheme called “Scholarship Programme for Diaspora Children” (SPDC), in the academic year 2006-2007 for the children of Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) and Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) to assist them in pursuing undergraduate courses in several disciplines at specified institutions in India.

2. The Government has announced 150 slots for Scholarship for Diaspora Children under SPDC scheme for the academic year 2019-2020. It is applicable to Children of NRIs/PIOs/OCIs in 68 countries. Under this scheme, Ministry of External Affairs provides financial assistance to the students selected under SPDC covering 75% of the total Institutional Economic Cost (IEC), subject to a maximum of US$4000/-.

3. The scheme is applicable to (a) Children of Persons of Indian Origin (b) Children of Non-Resident Indians (c) Children of Indian workers working in ECR countries studying abroad & (d) Children of Indian workers in ECR countries – studying in India

4. The total monthly income of the parent(s) of the candidate should not exceed an amount equivalent to US Dollars Four thousand (US$ 4000). The scholarship would be applied after obtaining admission in selected course in any of the institutes as mentioned in Appendix ‘C’ of the scheme. The students who fulfil all other eligibility conditions can complete and submit the online application form on the SPDC portal (https://spdcindia.gov.in).
