ADVISORY FOR INDIAN NATIONALS ON FRAUDULENT PHONE CALLS:
Advisory for Indian Nationals on Fraudulent phone calls since last 2/3 years, the instances of fraud calls scam are going on by some unknown persons posing as High Commission/Consulate officials, purportedly calling from High Commission/Consulate phone numbers, targeting the Indian nationals. The caller threatens Indians (usually Indian passport holders) suggesting that they are in trouble on account of providing false information pertaining to his/her immigration, to the Australian government. The High Commission/Consulate would like to caution Indian nationals and members of the Indian Diaspora to not respond or pay any money at the advice of fraudulent calls. The High Commission of India / Consulate does not make any such calls for payment/transfer of money into the account. If any Indian citizen receives such calls, he/she should immediately write to the Consulate General of India, Perth – at cons1.perth@mea.gov.in
ADVISORY FOR TRAVELLERS FROM INDIA ON BRINGING ANY OBJECTIONABLE MATERIAL:
Australian law enforcement authorities are extremely strict against those possessing pornographic, obscene, abhorrent material, whether in print or on digital media (mobile phones also). Such possession may lead to repatriation, court cases & also imprisonment. Indian nationals travelling to Australia are thus advised to strictly avoid carrying any such material.
ADVISORY FOR INDIANS REGARDING FAKE JOB OFFERS
The Consulate General of India in Perth have come across many instances of fake employment offered to Indian Nationals. The Consulate has received several enquiries from Indian nationals requesting the Consulate to verify antecedents of companies offering them employment. Mostly such offers are made over the internet, phone or through agents. These fake job offers are invariably accompanied by demands that the Indian job applicant should pay advance money in the form of passport, visa or ticket charges, and security deposits, before the employment contract is finalized. Indian citizens are therefore advised not to make advance payments to any individuals claiming to offer employment in Australia unless and until he/ she is fully satisfied that the employment opportunity is genuine.
